Amsterdam, December 2010

Woohooo it has been a while but here is what we have been doing in our spare time last couple of months. A lot of traveling and making new friends. But more about that in future newsletters. Some projects also landed in our laps. Here is a selection.

Beslist.nl
Eigen fabrikaat approached us to work with them on the first ever campaign for Beslist.nl. Beslist is a comparison site who want to rise above the other comparison sites.
Starting point in our projects is almost always motion. From a motion point of view it is easy to do a campaign because conceptually and technically the motion part of a campaign has the most depth. For instance we took several poses of the characters from the animation to create a library of illustrations to be used as assets on the site. In this way we could create a very efficient work flow and at the same time make the campaign consistent. The campaign included three commercials for television and versions for internet, highway billboards, abri’s, banners and a whole load of website illustrations.

Western Union
Money, we at Addikt are fans. So is Western Union. What a great combi. We created an animation for the users of their service to explain how easy and flexible it is to use. To be delivered worldwide via the ubiquitous interweb. Ten languages in total to bring the message. WU is relatively unknown in Holland but these people are literally everywhere.

Heist – Gimme the light
Our newest favorite dutch rock band just released their first single from their first album. Always looking out for fun projects we jumped at the opportunity to do a classic style clip for the guys. Vague storyline, nice pictures, good music, that is all a music video needs. We took our cam and went into the woods to do some running and shooting… which was taken a bit literally by the local police and forester guy. The 5000 watt light did not only attract millions of bugs but apparently could be seen from miles away.

Adobe User Group XL 2010
The dutch AUG is all mature now, so they need all the niceties that go with the territory. Most importantly an announcement movie of course. Momkai already created a solid graphic style for the user group and made a logo for the XL event featuring an hexagon shape. We thought it would be fun to create a sort of hexagon world. Lo and behold a 3d hexagon looks like a crystal. And because an announcement video should be about type we created a new font along the way based on the hexagon shape. Loopable versions with only one name were also made to announce the speakers right before they went on stage.
Szann also spoke by the way about the importance of motion as a starting point in creative projects nowadays. Ain’t it the truth?

Sri Lanka design festival
And while Szann was talking in glamorous Amsterdam Osdorp, Barry was off to Sri Lanka to stay in a shitty five star hotel for a week… Yes the people at Addikt will just endure about anything to educate the masses. The Sri Lanka design festival is a festival with a lot of fashion, sustainable and ethical design. So I don’t know what we did there, but Barry surely left an impression, haha. It was hard work. A 2 hour long lecture, taking part in a 2 hour panel discussion with 20 min introduction and also a 3hour workshop. Damn respect. Oh and there was a magnetic storm which made everybody’s hair stand up. Serious, true story, we have pictures.

This is the end, there is no more to read. Interested in ye olde stuff, klik on the link below. Thanks and till next time.
