The Amsterdam based motion graphics and design agency Addikt produces the visual identity of this years DesignYatra, one of the biggest festivals on graphic design worldwide that takes place in September, Mumbai, India.
Addikt developed the theme, designed the website, produced animations for the opening titles and speaker announcements, made the interactive billboards, poster and flyers. The design is all about the 3D models of top speakers, amongst them people from Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Mother New York, Bruce Duckworth & David Turner and Wieden & Kennedy.Last year, the leading Dutch organization for designers, BNO, organized a business trip o India, to which Addikt participated. Addikt was speaker at that years DesignYatra edition. Since then, festival organizer Kyoorius has been Addikts agent in Asia.
When Addikt was asked to do the identity for this event, they came up with Order & Chaos as the theme: based on their own experience of India, the land of contradictions. But also based on the task of todays designer, the one who is able to bring order in the communication by design.
The colorful designs for the festivals are all about the speakers, icons within their areas and masters in creating order from chaos. In the animations of Addikt, a mess of colored elements come together into low polygon 3D models of the speakers. Several versions of the animations are being used as online festival announcements, at the event itself as opening titles and speaker announcements. The festival website was developed in conjunction with Figtree from Malaysia. At this moment, Addikt is also working on interactive billboards, where 3d models of the speakers will react on the camera registrations of the movement of visitors.
